Oak Foundation: Grantees PT 2 a

This is part 2 of a series looking at this foundation and the organisations they bankroll. You can read part one here 👇

Oak Foundation’s Controversial Causes and Funding. Part One

I have covered a few of these “Charitable” foundations; with a specific focus on the United Kingdom. For a global perspective you need to follow @bjprtraits on X and visit her blog which is linked below: 👇

11th Hour Blog

The annual reports for Oak Foundation are readily available, dating back to 2018 and, at the time of writing, up to 2023. I was able to search how many grantees were described as LGBT, versus Lesbian only (none). For this post I searched for grantees based, or with operations in, the United Kingdom. There are too many to fit in one post so I will split this in two parts.

My intention was twofold; first to find out how much Oak is pushing gender identity ideology and secondly to ascertain how many other organisations are compromised by taking the Oak dollar. As you will see, some of those organisations have embraced the transgender propaganda wholesale, even when it appears to be outwith their official remit. Others have refrained from pushing this ideology but I could not find any who have publicly adopted the “gender critical” position. I will be naming the organisations funded by Oak but you should be wary of drawing any firm conclusions in respect of their actual stance on Gender Identity Ideology. The financial clout wielded by so many of these foundations may mean recipients may see little choice but to accept this funding to pursue their charitable cause. We do not know if there are conditions attached to the funding or if the trustees opt to remain silent on gender identity ideology to avoid compromising a funding stream. Individual charities may be doing their utmost to hold the line, on issues like single sex spaces, albeit behind the scenes. Nevertheless it is very difficult for the grantees to be anything but muted about the harms of gender identity ideology, even if it compromises their core objectives. We should all be concerned about this.

Internews

First up is an outfit called internews who took $200,000 and describe themselves as an independent media outlet prizing accurate reporting and holding power to account.

Internews have no hesitation in painting themselves as defenders of women’s rights whilst they are fully paid up proponents of gender ideology, as outlined in their style guide and LGBTQ reporting guide.

Internews cover such ground breaking topics as the impact of Covid on the LGBTQ+ community forced back into a home environment with family invariably portrayed as unsupportive, or even dangerous.

Russell Webster Ltd.

Russell is an independent consultant with numerous publications on the prison system. He links to a lot of content on the experience of LGBT people in prison but I could find nothing on the impact on female prisoners housed with male offenders. He seems unfamiliar with the legally protected characteristics and substitutes “gender” for “sex”.

He was awarded $26,000 by Oak Foundation; whether this played a role in his lack of curiosity about the practical impact of imposing “gender ideology” , in the form of mixed sex prisons, on women, is hard to say. It seems a major sin of omission to me.

Rights Info /Each Other

Rights info are recorded as receiving $380,000 but it appears they subsequently became an organisation called Each Other. (Adam Wagner a barrister specialising in Human Rights cases appears in early material). As Each Other, this organisation is fully committed to sex denialism.

Sadly, for him and the rest of us, the Archbishop of Canterbury appears to have listened to the arguments of “gender identity” ideology as espoused by Vichy, Lesbian, comedian, Sandy Toxic . (oops Toksvig). 👇

The charity is supported by some one of the frequent supporters of LGBTIQ+ outfits the English Collective of Prostitutes, The “trans” ideologues seem particularly enthralled by people is prostitution; which is in itself ironic because the highest number of homicidal deaths, in the trans community, happen to “transgender” males involved in prostitution. They also boast that they are supported by Liberty, The Bar Council and have worked with the EHRC (Equality and Human Rights Council) and, I am sad to see, The Equality Trust.

Liberty is no surprise as I covered that organisation earlier. You can read that here 👇

Liberty:

As you can see this organisation is very well connected and the ideological capture by the trans lobby is very evident on their website.

Imkaan

Imkaan got $450,000 from Oak Foundation.

Oak are their main funder as this extract from their accounts illustrates. This is from the Charity Commission for the annual return published in 2023. The charity is in receipt of government and council funding as well as funding from Esmee Fairburn who crop up regularly bankrolling purveyors of gender identity ideology.

Imkaan have a social media account and a very flawed understanding of “trans” history. Here they memorialise a gay man (Marsha P Johnson) as a “transwoman” and activist who they claim particpated in the Stonewall riots, in New York. Marsha was a cross dressing, gay, man and was not a prominent figure in the Stonewall riots. He was among a group of transvestites / men who worked as prostitutes many, like Johnson, were also drug addicts. His behaviour was found so troublesome he was among a group who were ejected from the Gay Liberation front.

Not only does Imkaan propagate the lie that Johnson was a “transwoman” and a major player in the Stonewall riots they also claim “trans sisters” paved the way for women’s liberation. This is laughably false.

They also find time to memorialise the murder of a trans identified man 👇 without feeling it necessary to flesh out the back story. “Naomi” met a man on a swingers site and was murdered after a three day sex and drugs binge. Once again, I remind you that homicides associated with working in prostituion, for this demographic, account for over 60% of the fatalities. This horrific statistic not stop trans lobby groups making #SexWorkIsWork a key part of their propaganda.

Before I leave Imkaan it is work noting that they also claim links with Centre for Women’s Justice, who are also funded by Oak Foundation. Centre for Women’s justice is run by the partner of Julie Bindel.

Surviving Economic Abuse (SEA)

Another beneficiary of Oak Foundation’s largesse is the above charity.

Since their interim C.E.O is Sam Smethers, erstwhile of the Fawcett Society, it is no surprise they are also enmeshed in the belief a women’s rights society should also include men. I was not disappointed. I hope I am giving you a flavour of the way these charities are interlinked: hence the group think. I covered the Fawcett Society in a piece about Jess Phillips. Linked below. The extent of the capture of the charity sector is less of a surprise when you look at all these links.

Jess Phillips. Feminist? Meninist?

Open Democracy.

I have covered Open Democracy before so I will keep it brief. They are funded by quite a lot of foundations including Oak Foundation.

They are also an enthusiastic supporter of prostitution.

Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Oak Foundation gave quite a hefty donation to Marie Curie. Sadly they are all in on the trans agenda and produce guidance on maintaining a “trans” identity in the face of a terminal diagnosis. They cover issues such as pronouns, concern about exposing their genitals to carers and 👇 continued access to synthetic hormones.

The guidance also signposts readers to the “trans” lobby groups Stonewall and LGBT Foundation.

I will cover further grantees in part two on funding. Like Japanese knotweed their roots are deeply embedded in the charity sector. Japanese knotweed was first introduced by Victorian gardeners and prized for its attractive flowers, until it became known for its invasive and harmful effects, and was outlawed. There is a lesson there for us all.
